
SCOTT SMIT's music career has taken him from playing on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York to producing a record at the famous Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. At the age of 11 Scott started playing the electric bass. He decided to take on the double bass at age 14. From an early age he studied and played a variety of genres including blues, hard rock, punk, jazz, and classical music. As a young member of the music community in Sonoma County he played electric bass in musical theater productions such as Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Music Man, and Company. While playing in the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra's bass section in 2002, he had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. After high school, Scott attended the University of Colorado where he earned his Bachelor of Music in double bass performance. During and after college, he was a member of the Cheyenne Symphony in Wyoming.
Upon Returning to his native San Francisco Bay Area, Scott began his engineering and producing career. He set up a small home studio and enrolled in San Francisco State's Music Recording Industry Program. While continuing work as a freelance bass player, Scott worked as an intern at Fantasy Studios. There he got the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers such as Adam Munoz, Jessie Nichols, Chris Manning, and Dan Feizli. Scott is a member of the San Francisco-based group Sea Lioness. Scott has most recent played in the critically acclaimed original musical The Cable Car Nymphomaniac with FOGG Theatre.
